ASTM/SEI helmets are required when mounted. If you do not have one, we can provide one for you but encourage those riding long-term to invest in their own.
Bike helmets or other sports helmets are not permitted as they don’t offer adequate protection in case of a fall.
Breeches (riding pants) and tights that cover your leg completely are encouraged. We recommend full-seat breeches. The knee patch and full seat on a pair or breeches whether felt or silicon provide extra security and grip while riding which creates a more secure and safe ride.Yoga pants, dress pants, and jeans are discouraged.
A sunshirt, polo shirt, or athletic top is recommended. This allows a better visual to riders’ spine, elbow and hip alignment.
Designer riding boots – and anything below the ankle does not support the ankle in a very productive manner, causing it to roll in your stirrup while riding. This causes instability and causes the leg to swing as the ankle can’t tighten effectively around the horse.
The other reason for requiring either tall boots or paddock boots worn with half chaps is because non riding boots often have a zipper on the inside vs the back of them which tears up the horses’ saddles over time causing rapid wear and tear on the saddle
Gloves are encouraged to prevent the rider’s fingers from getting blistered. It aids in keeping a steady, constant contact without having to worry about the reins slipping through the rider’s hands.
Half chaps, if wearing paddock boots are greatly encouraged as it protects the rider’s leg from rubbing and aids in stabilizing the rider’s leg.
